A cheap VPS can cost more than its headline price suggests when IPv4, storage, backups or traffic are billed separately. Compare the amount you will actually pay and check whether the server fits your workload; a low price does not make a plan suitable for every application.
Add every required charge
Before ordering, note the machine price, mandatory IP addresses, extras you need and the renewal price. Check which items receive an annual discount and which are billed separately. Do not compare one provider’s “from” price with another provider’s final total.
As a dated example, on 9 October 2026 Hostbrid lists its gp.nano at €5/month plus a mandatory dedicated IPv4 address at €1.50/month: the published monthly total is €6.50. An additional IP costs €1.50/month or €18/year, without the annual discount; the machine’s annual discount does not apply to the address. Check the current VPS prices and total before ordering because rates can change.
Check what the price includes
Compare vCPU, RAM, storage, transfer, location and operating system. Check whether resources are shared or reserved under the provider’s actual terms; core count alone does not prove performance. Also check whether backups, restores, console access, snapshots, network protection and support are included and whether they have limits.
Hostbrid’s catalogue lists root access, NVMe, snapshots, nightly backups and anti-DDoS protection across its VPS sizes. These are provider-listed features, not a guarantee that every application will perform well. If you plan to run Docker, a database or several services, first measure the resources your application needs.
Do not pay for a VPS you do not need
A static site that only serves HTML, CSS and JavaScript may fit a Git-based deployment product or web hosting better. A VPS gives you root access and flexibility, but it also makes you responsible for system setup, package updates, access security and service monitoring.
If you need persistent processes, containers, your own API or system control, a VPS may fit. If you only need to publish files from a visual builder, compare Projects or Sites first. The lowest price does not help if you pay for a machine you do not need or take on server administration you did not want.
Check the checkout and terms
Before paying, confirm the monthly or annual total, applicable taxes, extras, commitment, cancellation, delivery time and usage limits. Check the final cart summary: an informational price table does not replace the amount shown at checkout.
Choose based on a real workload and your requirements, not the lowest number alone. Review the Hostbrid VPS catalogue and current terms, then compare the figures with your budget and the technical work you are willing to take on.
